More than weight
Weight alone says little about what is changing in your body. What matters is how it is made up – and where something is happening. That is why the Weight Doctors® 3D Bodyscan is part of your treatment: a digital system for body analysis that the Weight Doctors® Group introduced in 2023.
The scan measures and documents your body composition and makes it comparable over time. This can additionally motivate, because even small progress becomes visible.

How the measurement works
The measurement is fully automatic, contact-free and harmless to health. You stand for about 30 seconds on a platform that turns once through 360 degrees. Cameras record your body while LIDAR sensors measure it at 14 measuring points.
This creates a virtual 3D avatar that reproduces your whole body very precisely – unlike many cameras and mirrors, without distortion.

The evaluation
What the scan measures
The avatar comes with an understandable overview of your body values. The scan classifies the measured values by sex and age using scientific reference data; a colour scale shows your status for seven important values at a glance.
- Weight and body fatHow much you weigh – and what share of it is fat.
- BMIThe body mass index: your weight in relation to your height.
- WHtRThe ratio of waist circumference to height – it takes into account where the fat is located.
- Body measurementsWaist, hips and other circumferences, measured on the avatar – always at the same points.
- Fat-free mass and basal metabolic rateWhat your body consists of besides fat and how many calories it burns at rest.
- Posture and balanceHow you stand and how you distribute weight on your feet.
A question of posture
Posture and balance in view
The 3D image is not everything. Using the avatar, the scan also analyses your posture, which plays a large, often underestimated role in appearance and health.
Even balance becomes visible, because the load on the feet is recorded during the measurement. Postural weaknesses thus stand out clearly – this opens the way to more targeted training or a suitable therapy. That is why the system is also used in physiotherapy.
Before, during, after
Your avatar over time
Even a single scan shows the current state very precisely. Repeated measurements are even more revealing: the standardised procedure ensures that avatars and measured values are always comparable – no matter where and by whom the measurement was taken. This also allows small changes in the body to be documented.
You can view your avatar from all angles. On request, you can take your scans home as a PDF and animated video. Results vary from person to person.

Part of your treatment
When and where you are scanned
Two 3D Bodyscans are part of your Weight Doctors® treatment: one at the start and one during the course of your therapy. In the Weight Doctors® MEMBERSHIP, up to two scans a year are provided – each subject to availability at our locations.
At which location you are scanned, we clarify in your consultation. Your team discusses the results with you; they give your specialist an objective basis for progress monitoring. Between scans, you keep an eye on your values with the body scales of the Weight Doctors® App.
The 3D Bodyscan documents your progress. It does not make a diagnosis – putting the values into context belongs in the conversation with your treatment team.

How long does a 3D Bodyscan take?
The measurement itself takes about 30 seconds: you stand on a platform that turns once through 360 degrees. Afterwards, the avatar and evaluation are ready.
Is the scan harmless?
Yes. The measurement is contact-free using cameras and LIDAR sensors and is harmless to health.
What does the 3D Bodyscan measure?
Weight and body fat percentage, BMI, the ratio of waist circumference to height (WHtR), body circumferences, fat-free mass and basal metabolic rate – plus posture and balance. The values are classified by age and sex.
How often do I get a 3D Bodyscan?
Two scans are part of the treatment: at the start and during the course of your therapy. In the Weight Doctors® MEMBERSHIP, there are up to two a year, depending on availability at our locations.
What does the 3D Bodyscan cost?

Do I take my results home?
Yes. On request, you receive your scans as a PDF and as an animated video.
How does the scan differ from the body scales?
The scales of the Weight Doctors® App accompany you daily at home and show weight, body fat and basal metabolic rate over time. The 3D Bodyscan comes in at fixed points in time and adds circumferences, posture, balance and your avatar.
